When we look back on the year that was 2020, the only word that can seemingly sum up what we’ve experienced these past twelve months is ‘resilience’. From the repercussions of the pandemic to the wave of rallying cries for social justice, it was a year that tested our limits of adaptability and taxed our composure. It was a journey we never anticipated on beginning, but as we near the finish line of 2020, we can reflect on how each of our own personal treks enlightened us to new meanings of life, and allowed us to reevaluate the values and ideals that define us.

Throughout all the hardships and obstacles we had to overcome, it’s important to examine what we can take away from 2020. While the pandemic isolated us, maybe the ‘new normal’ brought us closer together by allowing us to realize how precious and important our relationships are. The interruption to the flow of our routines may have given us the time to step back and determine what’s truly worth investing our efforts and energy into. But above all, perhaps the one redeeming quality we can walk away from 2020 with is a newfound appreciation for the people in our lives who motivate and inspire us, as well as for the passions and pastimes that have shaped us into the people we are today.

At SCOJO New York, 2020 was an opportunity for us to focus on why we love what we do and ways we can express our gratitude to our loyal clients and customers. We did that through launching our rewards program, allowing our shoppers to save big on new frames by referring friends and accumulating points that are redeemed for coupons. We did it through creating innovative frames and gels, featuring optical-quality lenses, scratch-resistant coating, and handcrafted devotion. And we did it by offering shoppers exclusive free and fast, two-day shipping on all purchases.

While we strove to meet our customers' needs and expectations during turbulent times, we also tried to display our appreciation to those who’ve supported us by giving back to our communities. This Thanksgiving, we donated hundreds of frames through VOSH International, a global organization committed to providing people around the world with professional eye health and vision resources. We also supported other nonprofit organizations throughout the country, including Project Homeless Connect, Tubman, and the St. Therese Nursing Home. In addition to our philanthropic efforts, we were able to carry on with our work throughout the year by strictly complying with COVID-19 safety measures, to ensure the health and safety of both our staff and customers.

While this year altered the courses of all our lives, we remain optimistic that a greater good will be achieved through our relentless endurance and buoyancy. For our loyal clients and customers, we’ve been humbly honored to serve you throughout these trying times, and we look forward to maintaining our relationships for many years to come. From all of us at SCOJO New York, we hope you continue to be healthy and safe, and enjoy the happiest of holidays.
