Earth Day is almost here, and New Yorkers savor every bit of nature they can get. In an effort to support sustainability as well as appreciation for nature, there will be another Car Free Earth Day in the city, with several streets shutting down to auto traffic for the day. Dress the part by donning the Broadway style, one of the streets turned to a pedestrian walkway.
There is no better time to read up on the natural world and learn about environmentalism, so here are some recommendations from SCOJO New York:
Soil the Story of a Black Mother’s Garden by Camille Dungy, an intimate portrait of individual and cultural connections to the earth.
No One is Too Small to Make a Difference, a collection of speeches by Greta Thunberg, to inspire you to fight for climate preservation.
And finally, Solastalgia: Anthology of Emotion in a Disappearing World, a space to process and accept some of the changes to our world we cannot undo.
Whatever you’re reading this month or how you celebrate Earth Day, do it in style with SCOJO’s readers. For the month of April, 3% of profits will be donated to GrowNYC, NYC Environmental Justice Alliance, and the Sierra Club.
