Juneteenth: Seeing the Truth, Honoring the Legacy
At SCOJO New York, we recognize Juneteenth as a powerful reminder: freedom, justice, and equality are not just ideals. They are rights that generations have fought to make real.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas were told they were free. Juneteenth marks that long awaited milestone; a day that lives in the hearts, stories, and strength of the Black community.
As a brand rooted in clarity and vision, we believe that progress begins with acknowledging truth, honoring legacy, and amplifying the voices that shape our future.
What We See. What We Stand For.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community; on Juneteenth and every day. We invite you to take part in meaningful action:
- Learn the full history of Juneteenth and how it continues to resonate today.
- Support Black-owned businesses, creators, and causes that are creating an impact.
- Celebrate Black joy, resilience, and innovation across fashion, art, and culture.
- Listen and create space for stories that have too often gone unheard.
Read. Reflect. Rise
For allies who want to take meaningful steps beyond the day itself, we invite you to explore these powerful books. Each of them is a lens into the Black American experience and the fight for equity:
